Dan Buechler

Dan is an experienced advisor skilled in navigating a company’s high-stakes, transformative events. He advises companies seeking financing, pursuing a company sale, or commercializing their technology, leveraging his diverse legal and business experiences to provide thoughtful and creative solutions.

Prior to joining New Counsel, Dan co-founded Till, Inc., a FinTech startup that developed financial products aimed at improving the financial health of residential renters. At Till, Dan established and led product, legal and regulatory functions, led the design and roll out of an innovative flexible rent payment solution for renters, and helped close $13.5 million in venture funding across multiple transactions.

Before Till, Dan served as the General Counsel of Silver Bay Realty Trust Corp. (formerly, NYSE: SBY). At Silver Bay, Dan was the lead in-house lawyer supporting Silver Bay’s creation and initial public offering in 2012. Dan acted as counselor to Silver Bay’s CEO and board on legal, strategic, and governance matters, managed Silver Bay’s public company compliance requirements, and oversaw all other legal matters. He also negotiated and led major finance and M&A transactions, including warehouse and securitization financings, entity and asset acquisitions, and Silver Bay’s ultimate sale for $1.4 billion in 2017.

Dan began his legal career in the corporate finance and transactions group of Oppenheimer Wolff and Donnelly (now Fox Rothschild) where he represented clients in M&A transactions, venture and public financings, and technology and commercial transactions.

Dan received his J.D. with honors from the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating Order of the Coif in 2008.
